Arvidson The CD
My first album "ärvidson" was recorded in 1998 at sun studios, Surry Hills. Produced by the legendary Peter Contini (aka The Count). It contains 11 original songs.-: "Cant Talk"- A song about coming down from some nasty substances. "Älleyway Cafe"- My personal favourite on the album.Starts from nothing and ends up a monster.In it i question life.It is the only song on the album i dont sing.When writing the song i had Josh Callaway in mind to sing it and he didnt let me down .The crescendo at the end of the song still gives me goosebumps.Keep an ear out for Dave Carters scat at the end of the song simply AWESOME. "Feel her voice"-A very warm ballad about me grieving from the passing of my beloved Grandmother. "Crown of thorn"-This is me in experimental mode to see just how epic a song i could create.Everything about this song is BIG.Very Rock opera,in fact it won abc,s "best theatrical song 2002".Legendary female vocalist Sue Carson hits a note at the end of this song that left us stunned in the studio at the time of recording. "40 wrinkles later"-Haunting tales of lives wasted and dreams unrealized.Phil Bellamy who plays lead on all the tracks hits some beautiful singing notes on the backing vocals of this song. "Shake it" One of the only rock songs on the album.Thunderous toms pump it along thanks to one of the best drummers in Australia "Steve Fuller".The song is about letting music take your stress away. "Funky thing"-This is the other Rock song although its Funky by name and Funky by nature.This song received alot of radio play and is a favourite amongst the female audience for some reason.Its about my pathetic attempt to chat up a woman in a nite club.(Cant have been too bad though coz i ended up dating her for 3 years hehehe) "Lonely kingdom"-This is me baring my soul.Fresh in the throngs of seperation i had to hold back the tears singing it.Got some great emotion on tape. "Peace Train"-The title says it all.Had all my friends in the rec studio making a racket for the intro.Was great fun.Unfortunately the song has never been more relevant than now. "Sugar Ray"-Amazing piano playing by "Josh Callaway" this song is very remeniscent of a Bruce Hornsby type of track.It is about an old man relaying some of his experiences to a young whipper snapper.Its very acoustic to start but also very powerful with some beautiful bending bass from master bass man himself "Chris Lee". "Garden of Eden"-This song was originally recorded with my old band(they were and still are all shithot musicians) some extra backing vocals were added for this particular mix.Its a heartwrenching song , very serious and emotional.When i sing it live sometimes i find it hard to speak afterwards and not because my voice is tired.
